Thank you for reading the first of what I hope will be many blog posts.
So who is Rich Wheeler, and what is this blog about? Let’s answer the second question first. There will be a bio post soon.
Look at the site logo below:

This gives you a few clues. First is the health icon. I will be talking about my recent Crohn’s diagnosis. It was found during my very first colonoscopy in January 2026. Luckily for me, I’m not having any major issues yet. I do have a lot of inflammation as well as ulcers in my small intestine. My doctor feels it’s time to start treatment, and I’ll be having my first Skyrizi infusion in a few days. There will be a post on that, so stay tuned.
The next icon is a church. I was born into a family of devout Southern Baptists. Don’t leave the site 🙂 there’s “the rest of the story” coming up.
My maternal grandfather, who unfortunately died when I was just a baby, was a founding member of a church in western North Carolina. I like to say he is Baptist royalty because he has a stained-glass window and a pew dedicated to his memory. From family stories, I hear he held many offices in the church and was a big part of keeping it running. I do remember going there with my grandmother and watching her sing in the choir. My oldest sister was married in that church, so it brings back some fond memories.
Now, “the rest of the story.” I did not remain in the Baptist church. My church attendance has been all over the place, and I’ll talk more about that at some point. When I decided I wanted to chart my own faith journey, several decisions eventually led me to the Episcopal Church. I have to say I’m very happy there and look forward to discussing my faith in more detail along the way.
The next icon is music. I love sharing my favorite decade of music on my internet radio station, 90s Plus Radio. I began my love of presenting radio programs about seven years ago. My first shows were on community FM radio here in Savannah. I then branched out into the world of internet radio and radio show apps. I enjoy doing live shows, but I also love the behind-the-scenes work I can do with my own internet radio station that I can’t do on those apps. Once I see how my treatment goes, I plan to get back to doing a few live shows, but for now my focus is on 90s Plus Radio. You can listen using the links or directly from this website’s homepage.
Next to music, TV and movies are my favorite pastime. We’ve always been a TV family. I can remember the whole family eating dinner on TV trays while watching the popular shows of the ’80s and ‘90s. The funny thing is, many of those shows are still my favorites today. So we’ll definitely be talking about TV and movies on this blog, too. I also had a really fun show on community radio that featured music from TV shows and movies. It was a lot of fun to produce.
The final icon is cats. I’ve been a cat lover for most of my life. I like dogs, but I find them to be more work than I’m willing to take on. My first cat as an adult was Wally. I adopted him from a local kennel, and he was my faithful companion for many years. Not long after we moved from Charlotte to Savannah, Wally passed away. We had already added Shawna to the family, and she helped me through my grief. Shawna was my big orange tabby baby.
Along the way we adopted Henrietta. She’s a funny cat—more independent, but she still enjoys a good chin rub. After we lost our dear Shawna last September, I adopted Opal. She’s a gray tabby and my shadow. She doesn’t like being far from me and spends most of her time in my room. She’s also the first cat I’ve ever had that likes to sit in my lap. I have a feeling you’ll be seeing and hearing a lot about my two girls. Below are a couple of pictures to get you started.
Thanks for visiting my site. Please save it, and I hope you’ll stop by again soon!book mark it and vist often for new post about my health, faith, music, TV and movies, and my cats. See you again soon.
